Here’s the secret: The hook is everything. It’s the difference between content that gets ignored and content that stops the scroll.

Hook Strategies That Work

Some of my favourite hooks include:

  • State a misconception: “Foods you think are unhealthy but aren’t”

  • Future pace: “If you want six-pack abs in 6 months, keep watching”

  • Relevant statement: “If you’re seeing this before May 1st, keep watching”

  • Warning: “You’re never going to have [desired result] if you don’t do this one thing”

  • Secrets/hacks: “Things people don’t want you to know about”

  • Ask a question to spark curiosity

  • Set the expectation right away so viewers know exactly what’s coming

  • Video editing tricks: putting the most exciting part first or starting with a reaction
